Student Full-Time Cellar Technician – Village Brewery

The role.

This Cellar Technician role is a temporary, full-time role that runs from May 1 – August 31. This position is a great opportunity to break into the craft brewing scene. To start, the role will be focused on training and learning the brewery and will expeditiously elevate to keg washing, keg filling, CIP’s, and other cellaring tasks (including cleaning!). Attention to detail is critical in the role which based on fit, organization need, and performance, has the potential to be extended beyond the summer months in a part-time capacity.

The day-to-day.

– Maintain a meticulously clean, organized, visually appealing workplace.

– Keg washing.

– Keg filling.

– FV and BBT CIP’s.

– Utilization of brewery software to track production, inventory, and operations procedures.

– Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

– Packaging when required.

As the days turn into weeks.

– Increased responsibility of cellaring tasks.

– Tank additions (dry-hops, fruit additions).

– Blending processes.

– Assisting brewers.

– Quality control.

– Equipment maintenance.

Requirements.

– As this is a Federal grant eligible summer position, to be considered, you must be a student aged 30 years or younger and returning to a post-secondary program in the fall.

– Conduct repetitive tasks while standing for long periods of time.

– Forklift operation.

– Ability to lift 25 kg and maneuver heavy items (kegs, hoses, pallets).

– PPE (gloves, safety glasses, CSA approved steel toe boots) usage.

– Working with a fall-arrest harness at heights.

– Monday to Friday. 8 hour shift. We work rotating morning and evening shifts, no nights.

– Ability to reliably commute to brewery.

The qualifications.

– A student enrolled in a post-secondary education program returning to school in September 2023.

– Enrollment in a brewing specific program is an asset, but not required.

– 0 – 2 years’ experience in a brewery.
