Employment Opportunity – Finance Manager Job Posting
The Ooknakane Friendship Centre (OFC) is seeking to employ an enthusiastic individual to work as a Finance Manager. The Successful candidate will be accountable to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the Financial and Fiscal accountabilities that include day to day, monthly and year end accounting functions of the OFC. The successful candidate must possess working knowledge and a clear understanding of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles); utilizing Financial applicable programs such as Sage 50.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, GAAP and statutory reporting compliance.
- Assist with department finance planning, human resources, administrative, financial, governance, legal and project management deliverables.
- Oversees and monitors department and annual budgets including annual audit preparation.
- Oversees day-to-day accounting requirements and functions of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. Completing timely and accurate deposits and posting of all receipts for accurate reporting and cash flow forecasting.
- Creates and completes required templates, reports and briefing notes and participates in financial meetings on a regular basis as required. Provides recommendations to enhance the efficiency of accounting systems and processes for OFC.
Qualifications and competencies
- The position will require the following qualifications values and competencies qualifications.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent with (3) to (5) five years applicable experience managing Indigenous finance programs or projects is preferred. Don’t know that CPA should be required
Knowledge skills and abilities required.
- Excellent knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-profit Organizations (ASNPO)
- Fluency in Sage 50 accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of Indigenous taxation and processes.
- Excellent Supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated organizational, time management and presentation skills.
- Experience in working with Indigenous organizations issues and concerns.
- Have a valid BC driver’s license. Bondable. Vulnerable Criminal record check.
- Full-time, 8:30am – 4:00pm. Monday to Friday and willingness to occasionally work on evening and weekends.
