We are currently seeking a part-time, permanent, Finance Assistant (20 – 25 hours per week) to support our Financial Controller.

Location: Home Based Office (remote)

A Snapshot of the job:

Under the direction of the Financial Controller, the Finance Assistant will primarily be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial activities including daily, monthly and quarterly processes, preparation of month end, accounts payable, invoice payment and processing monthly expenses.

Responsibilities:

  • Corporate credit cards – receive monthly expense reports from users, check for accuracy and post in the system once approved
  • Mileage reimbursement – receive monthly expense report from users, check for accuracy and post in the system once approved
  • Personal expenses – receive monthly expense report file from users, check for accuracy and post in the system once approved
  • Accounts payable – check A/P inbox for invoices (inventory and non-inventory). Respond to e-mails as needed. Archive messages by Vendor
  • Inventory invoices – check for accuracy in the system (PO x invoice x entry)
  • Non-inventory invoices – get proper approvals, check for accuracy (tax, etc.) and post in the system
  • Weekly cheque run – always ready by Thursday end of day. Anticipate all invoices due Fri current week to Thu the following week
  • Supporting projects as required

What you will bring:

  • Minimum College diploma in Accounting
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting role
  • Ability to read, understand, and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms
  • Experience working with accounting software and systems. Knowledge of Microsoft NAV is considered an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Humble and driven with a high level of integrity and excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
